Charlene King

Charlene King has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Economics from the University of British Columbia and is a recent Master of Public Health specializing in Health Promotion graduate from the University of Alberta. She has had a very extensive range of work experience including sales, customer service, event marketing, advertising and research.

Her health interests sparked working as a program coordinator at an alternative preventative health clinic. In addition, her public health experience includes working with various organizations including the Public Health Association of British Columbia and the Provincial Services Health Authority on capacity-building, community engagement and health promotion projects.

She is currently working at BC Mental Health and Addiction Services as a project manager on the Health Literacy Team. This team aims to enhance mental health literacy through a number of initiatives created through partnerships with community based organizations and managing provincial networks to promote knowledge exchange. Her interests are broad but include health literacy, women’s health, Aboriginal health, workplace wellness, addictions and mental health promotion.

She is most passionate about using participatory approaches in promoting health and achieving health equity. Her key strengths include relationship building, facilitation, concept forming and critical thinking.
