Runa Foundation

Runa Foundation’s mission is to create new value for tropical forests and ensure that this value brings tangible benefit to local people and the ecosystems that support them. The organization has three program areas: livelihoods, landscapes and plant research. Until recently, Runa Foundation has spent the majority of its effort creating a new value chain for Ilex guayusa, a native tea-like tree from the Ecuadorian Amazon. Now we are working with indigenous groups and partner organizations to unlock the healing power of the Amazonian plant medicine. Runa Foundation is headquartered in New York City, with offices and operations in Ecuador and Peru.
